Clifton Pottery Definition
Clifton Pottery was commenced by William Long at Newark in New Jersey, in 1905. Till 1911, the company designed art pottery and later focused solely on wall and floor tile. By 1914, the company had changed its name from Clifton Pottery to Clifton Porcelain and Tile Company. Crystal Patlina, one of the company’s most reputed products possessed a crystalline glaze. Clifton Indian Ware which was company’s another reputed product had its interior painted with glossy black and an exterior unglazed. The Clifton patterns included vases, dishes, bowls, ewers, humidors, jardinière, jars and candlesticks.
