Clewell Definition
Clewell pottery were designed by Charles Walter Clewell of Canton in Ohio between 1902 and 1955. Clewell potteries were covered with a thin layer of bronze, copper, silver or brass. This layer was later treated for coloring the metal. Charles Clewell designed pottery with a blue-green bronze finish in 1923. Clewell pottery patterns include vases, bowls, pitchers, bookends, jars, ashtrays and candlesticks.
