Clock Definition
Numerous clocks such as grandfather clock, cuckoo clocks and Bakelite clocks are available as antiques. Among antique clocks, the tallest clock which is also known as grandfather's clock works with a long pendulum. Eli Terry, in 1816, reduced the size of the clock by designing a smaller works for working a clock. After that, the clocks could be placed on a shelf rather than placing it on the floor. Coiled springs, by 1840, were employed to make smaller clocks. Clocks powered by batteries were made in 1870s. From 1900 till 1950, clocks that were animated in the shape of dogs, cats, flowers, comic characters, clowns etc. gained huge popularity.
