Rose O Neill Definition
Rose O’Neill was an American writer who also created the comic character Kewpie in her comic strip in 1909. Kewpie dolls resembled the cupid. Kewpie dolls were mass produced since 1912 from Germany as bisque dolls. During World war one, the dolls were produced by Rex Doll Company. Rose O, Neill also created another line of character called Scootles in 1925, which was more famous than Kewpies. In 1940, she created a laughing Buddha, called Ho-Ho which caused an outcry by the Buddhists. Inspired by Roman mythology, she also created a series of painting called sweet monsters.
