Byzantine Art Definition
Byzantine art refers to the art works of Eastern Roman Empire with Constantinople as its capital. Byzantine art is mostly religious and the prominent among them are icons which flourished with Orthodox Christianity. The fresco wall paintings were a prominent feature of the early Byzantine art. Large domes and vaults are highlights of Byzantine architecture.
