Rocaille Definition
Rocaille is a decorative rock or shell work which is often used for ornamentation works in a rococo fountain, grotto or interior. It is the significant part of the Rococo style of architecture that began in France in the early 17th century. Rocaille carvings were made on house hold furniture and personal items like snuff box.
