Creamware Definition
Creamware is refined English earthenware which is cream in colour. It was introduced during the second half of 18th century. It is fine creamy earthenware but rich with yellowish glaze. It has a finer, thinner, whiter, and a clean glazing body and is light weighted. It is one of the best domestic ware. Josiah Wedgwood is a famous producer of creamware. In 1779, Josiah gave this creamy white coloured earthenware a bluish white finish. This was done by adding cobalt to it. However, later, creamware was produced continuously throughout the 19th century. It is also known are queensware.
