Bleeding Through Definition
The term Bleeding through is referred to the unintentional flow or migration of one color into another color in a painting. Bleeding through occurs when one color stains the picture beyond the portion where it was intended. In oil painting, bleeding through also refers to the degree of visibility of under painting when the upper layers of the paint become faded over time. The term also refers to a color that does not set and affects subsequent overlays.
