Umbrella Definition
An umbrella (or parasol) is a portable device designed for personal use as a covering to guard against rain and sunlight. Per records, a collapsible umbrella is seen referred to as early as on 21 AD. In ancient Egypt, parasol was found in several forms. In 5th century BC, people in Greece considered parasol as an essential adjunct to a fashionable woman. In 1710, Jean Marius, a Paris merchant introduced the first light-weight folding umbrella in Europe. In 1950, the individual umbrella was transformed into a light weight architecture by Frei Otto.
