Mother Of Pearl Definition
Mother of Pearl refers to the internal layer of mollusk shells used in making ornaments. Pearls grow in the iridescent lining of the shell. Mother of Pearl ornamental tradition in China dates back to Bronze Age. In 18th and 19th centuries, Chinese and Indian artists combined Mother of Pearl with ivory to make artifacts.
