Artists Proof Definition
An artist's proof is the copy made in the print-making process used to evaluate the working print for any improvement by an artist. It also denotes a limited copy of prints taken out for an artist’s use. Usually, it is first proofs from a limited edition print and is marked as an AP. It may be used for the copyright use by the artist and may not be numbered. They typically garner a higher amount that other impressions of the print.
