Gibson Girl Definition
Gibson Girl refers to an image of a female representing peak of feminity as illustrated by Charles Dana Gibson (1867-1944). In early 1900s, Royal Doulton pottery at Lambeth, England depicted this image in black-and-blue decorated plates. There were pictured scenes from the book "A Widow and Her Friends" by Charles Dana Gibson on the twenty four plates that were 10 ½ inch. Plates that had Gibson Girl images were usually done in blue. Many other objects or items depicted the Gibson Girl.
