Embossing Definition
Embossing refers to the procedure of creating raised images or designs on paper or similar objects. In embossing, pressure is applied on the backside of the object to give a raised effect to the object. It gives the design a three dimensional effect. In the context of antiques, the term may be used to refer to any decorative work based on embossing technique.  Embossed silver jewelry, silver and wooden embossed jewelry boxes, leather chair seats, and embossed bottles are examples of some antique items in which embossing is used to decorate the item.  Antique embossing seals and stamps are significant remnants of a past era.
