Dorchester Pottery Definition
Dorchester Pottery, in the context of antiques, is used to refer to Dorchester Pottery Works and its products. Dorchester Pottery Works was a company founded by George Henderson in 1895 in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The company produced functional and decorated stone wares. By 1940, Dorchester started manufacturing attractive tableware that were hand dipped, mounted on wheels etc. Blue and white design combinations were mainly used for these potteries. Most of the objects were handmade only and machines were not used to produce these stoneware. The company shut down in 1979.
