Ding Definition
The term Ding refers to a ritual vessel with three legs which was a part of the Chinese tradition which originated prior to the Shang dynasty. Though this vessel was primarily used to serve food which was offered to the ancestral spirits, it was also used for a ground ornament. The surface of the vessel had designs of creatures, symbols, and written characters that comprised of recorded ritual procedures.
