Boch Freres Definition
The term Boch Freres fully named as Boch Freres Keramis refers to a pottery founded by Eugene and Victor Boch and their brother-in-law in 1841. Boch Freres Keramis was located in La Louviere in eastern Belgium. Many of Boch Freres’ early wares were similar to the pieces made by Villeroy & Boch. Boch Freres is best known for its colorful and very stylish pieces executed in the art deco manner. These well-known pieces were created by Charles Catteau, the head of Boch Freres decorating department. In 1848, Boch Freres became a public limited company and the factory was taken over by several persons, but went bankrupt several times.
