Anamorphosis Definition
The term Anamorphosis is a Greek word which means transformation, or "formed again."  In art, Anamorphosis refers to an image or drawing distorted in such a way that appears in its true shape only when viewed in a specific point of view or reflected in a curved mirror or with other special devices. Anamorphosis is of two main types: perspective (oblique) and mirror (catoptric). The image appears distorted and unintelligible because of its construction on an elongated grid. There are number of artists who are well known in anamorphic art and there are several well known artworks done by them. An example for perspective anamorphosis is for Leonardo's Eye (Leonardo da Vinci, c. 1485).
