Vienna Definition
The term Vienna, in the context of antiques, refers to the porcelain made in Porcelain Manufactory established by Claude Innocentius du Paquier. The factory opened in 1718 was the second hard-paste porcelain factory in Europe. The wares had European landscapes, hunting scenes and flowers. The porcelain wares included tableware, small sculptures, and vases. The factory was sold to the state in 1744. Though the company continued in operation for a few more years, it was closed in 1864.
