Vellum Definition
Vellum refers to the parchment made from the skin of calf, lamb or kid used as pages for manuscript. The term vellum originated from Latin ‘vitulinum’ meaning ‘made from calf.’ The parchment made of vellum was smooth and durable. The term vellum is also used to refer to fine quality paper of contemporary times which is off white and heavy.
