Sacra Conversazione Definition
When used in the context of art, ‘sacra conversazione’ means a sacred or holy conversation. It is an Italian term. It generally depicts Virgin Mary, Infant Jesus and the saints, uniformly placed in a single panel. This art form replaced the earlier prevalent polyptych, where painting was divided into sections or panels.
