Quince Group Definition
The term Quince Group refers to a group formed by few American scene painters. These artists shared a studio on Philadelphia's Quince Street which flourished briefly in the late 1930s, thereafter many members parted away. The prominent members of Quince Group were Joseph Teller and Irene Teller. The Quince Group has had among the most peripatetic and quiescent influences on the Philadelphia School of American art. Several of Joseph and Irene Teller's works have been reproduced in a book "When I'm Dead All This Will Be Yours," 2001, Blast Books, NY, written by their son, Teller (of Penn & Teller).
