Mughal Dynasty Definition
The Mughal dynasty in India reigned between 1526 and 1857. The art and architecture of the period were a combination of Islamic and Persian styles. Amir Hamza, a narration on cloth running to more than 1000 pages, directed by two Persian painters of Humayun’s court is an example of Mughal paintings. The low arches and bulbous domes of Fathepur Sikri, a city built by Mughal emperor Akbar symbolize Mughal architecture. The most famous illustration of Mughal architecture is the Taj Mahal, built by Emperor Shah Jahan, in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.
