Lamp Shade Definition
Lamp Shades were popular by late 18th century when household electricity became common. The earlier lamp shades were used to light kerosene lamps and had minimal embellishments. With the advent of electricity, the manufacturers began to experiment Art Nouveau styles in lamp shades.  The Dragonfly lampshades made by Tiffany Studios are an example for Art Nouveau lamp shade. Some others experimented with reverse-painting. Streaked, opaque slag glass also became popular lamp shades.
