Jackfield Definition
Jackfield refers to earthenware with lustrous black lead glaze. The pottery was originally made in the Jackfield in Shropshire, England, where Richard Thursfield made remarkable pieces. The early examples had Jacobite inscriptions. Jackfield pottery was made popular by the pottery run by Thomas Wheldon in Staffordshire. The Jackfield pieces include tea pots, coffee pots, creamer, mug, pitcher and figurines.
