Herend Definition
Herend is a porcelain manufacturing company which masters in luxury, hand painted, and glided porcelain. The company’s inception took place in 1826 in the town of Herend near the city of Veszprem when its factory was established by Vincent Stingl. Following the down fall of Communism, the factory was privatized. Currently, 75% of the firm is managed and owned by its management and workers. Herend’s products are usually manufactured using hard-paste porcelain using a mixture of kaolin, feldspar, and quartz. Late British Queen, Victoria purchased a dinner set designed by Herend accompanied by its pattern which bagged a gold medal. After that the pattern was named as Viktoria.
