Gum Arabic Definition
Gum Arabic is a natural gum from two species of acacia tree, namely Senegalia (Acacia) Senegal and Vachellia (Acacia) seyal. The hardened saps of these trees are used as natural gum. Sudan is the principal producer of it. However, gum is harvested commercially throughout the Sahel, from Senegal to Somalia. Gum Arabic is used in food industry as a stabilizer. It is also used in traditional lithography and textile industries.
