Fan Vault Definition
Fan Vault, as the name suggests refers to vaults made of fan shaped half cones meeting at the center. The ribs are placed equidistantly. The east cloister walk of Gloucester Cathedral is a renowned example for fan vault. Fan Vault is a common feature of late English Gothic architecture. The fans are usually found decorated with paneling or intricate tapestry.
