Diptych Definition
Diptych is a painting that is placed between two panels that are hinged together. This often resembles an altar piece. Diptych also refers to those images that have two different and distinct surfaces. Roman or Early Christians who used writing tablet may also be called a diptych that has two leaves joined together with its inner side covered with wax.
