Counterfeit Definition
Counterfeit means to imitate or make a copy of something. It can also be termed as a fraud imitation of something like coins or currency. But in art, it is the term used as a synonym for artwork and such imitations are termed as an inspiration, simulation or reproduction of a product. They are fake duplications of a real product. It may be clothes, accessories, footwear, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, electronics, or anything. Some counterfeit products may have fake company logos, marks and brand name of the original product.
