Codex Definition
Codex in an ancient book that is made up of sheets such as papyrus, vellum, or paper on which the text is written by hand. The pages are bound together and include a thick outer cover. It is simply a primitive manuscript text that often includes classic works. Romans developed codex from wooden writing materials. According to Mesoamerican art, the book consists of a lengthy set of papers decorated with different colors of paints. The compactness, sturdiness, and the ease of reference of a codex made this form of book last for years.
