Cinquecento Definition
The term Cinquecento, in the context of art, refers to the Italian art and literature of the 16th century. The term literally means five hundred, the abbreviation for “millecinquecento,” meaning ‘fifteen hundred.’ The master painters of the period were Michelangelo, Raphael and Da Vinci.
