Castor Sets Definition
Castor Sets are containers that are used to hold salt , pepper, sugar, mustard, oil, or other spices. In the 17th century, castor sets included only containers to hold salt and pepper. However, by the 18th century, castor sets were found in metal holders with 4-5 holes to accommodate condiment jars. The containers were used to hold mustard, oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and other spices.  The traditional castor sets were mainly silver made. Later on, castor sets in various designs with colored glasses, figurines, and  often with wheel and a bell attached to it were seen in the market. The term Caster is also called as cruet.
