Carborundum is an alternate name for silicon carbide.It serves as a binding agent. Carborandum is a solid crystalline material that is industrially produced and widely used in the printmaking processes. In this method, the image is formed by adding light to a shady field. This print making technique was established in the U.S. in the 1930s. Carborandum printing gives a velvety look to the print made.
