Aquamanile Definition
An aquamanile is a jug-type vessel for storing water to wash hands. It is made from metal, usually in the form of a creature or bird. It is used both in religious and secular setting. In a religious setting it is used by priests before Mass. And in private upper-class households, it is used to wash hands before meals. It is widely produced from the fifth to the fifteenth centuries.
