Sterling Silver Definition
Sterling is an alloy of silver. It contains 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. It was used in America in 15th century as currency. Cutlery sets and tea sets were made of sterling silver in Victorian era. Surgical and medical instruments made of sterling have been excavated form archeological sites of Ur, Egypt and Rome.
