Steatite Definition
Steatite is a metamorphic rock. It is mostly composed of talc. They are soft stone and are also referred to as soapstone. They are used in sculpture and coasters. The statute of ‘Christ the Redeemer’ in Brazil has its outer layers made of Steatite. Seals made of Steatite are common in China.
