Silver Irish Definition
Silverware sold in Ireland has been hallmarked since 1637. The earliest hallmark identified is harp crowned. The second mark is Hibernia, a duty mark introduced in 1730. A mark of king’s head was used from 1809 to 1895. The hallmark guarantees that the piece is made of 92.5 % pure silver. Silver-Irish antiques include cutlery, teapots, candlesticks and ladles.
