Rhinestone Definition
Rhinestone is a small artificial imitation gem which resembles diamond. It is usually used in jewellery or decoration. Rhinestone is usually cut out of crystal rocks or various forms of brilliant glass or paste. Swarovski began making rhinestones in late 19th century in Austria. Rhinestone jewellery became popular in 1920s. Eisenberg, Trifari, and Hobe were popular US designers who made rhinestone jewellery in Art Deco style.
