Pumice Definition
The term Pumice refers to a light, porous igneous volcanic rock which is formed from the foam of lava which is thrown out of a volcano. It has very low specific gravity and is used as an abrasive in both solid and powdered forms. Pumice, in powder form is used as a polish for marble sculpture. It is also used to make lightweight concrete and abrasive products.
