Potlids Definition
Potlids are lids that are used to cover pottery containers. Potlids which were coloured and which had transfer prints were popular during 1840s through 1900s. Ceramic containers with decorated lids were produced by English Staffordshire potteries. The main themes of such decorated lids were pictorial representation of historical events, scenic views and portraits of celebrities. Few designs were also made in black and white colour.
