Philately Definition
The word philately is derived from the French word philatelie. It was Georges Herpin who coined this word. The word originated from the Greek word phil meaning affinity for something. Philately is a term used to refer to the hobby of collecting postage stamps and those who have a wide collection of it. Philatelist can also be someone who studies about the stamps without owning any.
