Palmette Definition
Palmette is a decorative motif that is fan shaped and looks like the leaves of a palm tree. This decorative design originated in the Egypt and is seen classical Greek and Egyptian ornaments. Palmettes are also seen as in architectures in painted or carved form. Ceramic potteries, moldings, rugs, and fabrics also included palmette designs.
