Nave Definition
The term ‘Nave’  comes from medieval Latin navis which means ‘ship.’ In the context of architecture, Nave refers to the central part of a church that is set apart for the laity and where seats are placed for worshippers. Nave is the main body of the building and usually extends from main entrance of a church to the altar and choir which is bordered by side aisles. It is the long narrow part where people sit in a modern church The primary purpose of a nave is to accommodate the congregation.
