Middle Ages refer to the period between the fall of Roman civilization and the Renaissance. The period is also referred to as Dark ages. The art and architecture of middle ages depicted Gothic style. The paintings of middle Ages were mainly iconographic. Byzantine art is another hall mark of art of middle Ages. The middle Ages is also referred to as Medieval period.
