Luminism Definition
Luminism refers to landscape and seascape paintings practiced in the US between 1850s and 1870s. The chief characteristic of luminism is picturing of atmospheric light and aerial perspective. The well known artists of luminism include George Caleb Bingham, Frederic Edwin Church and Albert Bierstadt.
