Lintel Definition
Lintel is an architectural element used for load bearing as well as decoration. It refers to a horizontal block that spans the space between two columns or vertical supports. Lintel is usually found above doors, windows or fireplaces. The lintels excavated from the site of Mayan city of Yaxchilan contains narration of a celebration of the king's anointing by a god.
