Harlequin Definition
In the context of antiques, Harlequin refers to the vintage dinnerware made by the Homer Laughlin Company. The dinnerware was less expensive compared to the Fiesta ware line of the company and were sold without the F.W. Woolworth Co. trademark. The Harlequin pottery were also designed by Frederick Hurten Rhead, who designed Fiesta. The wares originally had mauve blue, yellow, spruce green and maroon colors. Red, rose, turquoise and light green were added in 1940s and forest green, chartreuse, medium green and gray were added in 1950s. The concentric circle rings in Harlequin are separated by a plain margin from the rim. The handles of Harlequin cup are triangular in shape.
