Graniteware Definition
Graniteware is enameled metal, usually tin or iron, used to make kitchen utensils. This type of kitchenware was made from Midwestern and Eastern United States since 1870s.  They were also known as agateware and enameled ware. Charles Stumer in 1848 patented it. When it was first produced, it was mainly green or turquoise blue with white in color. Then about 1900, it was mostly gray with white spatters. Speckleware or blue speckled pottery is also known as graniteware.
