Galatea Definition
Galatea refers to statute carved by the Greek sculptor, Pygmalion of Cyprus. The statute was carved of ivory. In Greek mythology statute is believed to have come of life after the sculptor fell in love with his creation and prayed to Venus to give life to it. Galatea in Greek means "she who is milk-white".
