Excavate Definition
Generally, the term ‘excavate’ refers to the process of digging a hole into something or creating a hollow by digging, cutting or scooping. In the context of archaeology, the term ‘excavate’ means to expose or uncover something buried under the earth by digging. This is done usually to unearth buried objects in an effort to find information about the past. The process of excavating is termed as excavation.
